Early detection of Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a serious disease that kills 2600 children per day, totaling 940,000 in 2013 alone (source: Wearables for Good Use Case Handbook). Symptoms of Pneumonia include ‘fast breathing’ and related respiratory abnormalities.

Research shows that sensors can be used to detect Pneumonia early on, by monitoring pulse,
respiration and bed restlessness:

Our solution is for early detection of Pneumonia by using the Totem Health Patch as a way to monitor specifically vulnerable children.
